Carla Perlo didn't know her former teacher and mentor was ill when she called Jan Van Dyke last spring and invited her to Washington. Less than a month later, Van Dyke died of cancer, and plans for Perlo's reunion concert morphed into a tribute. On Saturday night at Dance Place, Perlo and her colleagues presented a poignant collection of standout works by choreographers with ties to Washington, and to Van Dyke.
